Brandon J. Iskander is a bankruptcy and litigation attorney focusing most of his practice on bankruptcy trustee and creditor representation. Mr. Iskander utilizes his broad experience in the bankruptcy field, having worked on hundreds of cases either as consumer debtor or creditor counsel. Representative accomplishments by Mr. Iskander include subordinating several multimillion-dollar secured claims pursuant to 11 U.S.C. § 510; successfully challenging homestead exemption claims under both federal and state laws; and prosecuting and successfully resolving numerous multimillion dollar claims for substantive consolidation, breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent transfers, and other insider liability claims.
Mr. Iskander is the Chair of the Orange County Bar Association Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section and is a member of the Insolvency Law Committee of the California Lawyers Association, Business Law Section and the board of directors of the James T. King Bankruptcy Inn of Court. Mr. Iskander was selected as a Southern California Super Lawyer for 2025 and was for four years prior thereto was a Southern California Rising Star (2021-2024). In addition to his regular practice, Mr. Iskander routinely writes on decisions in bankruptcy, tax, and commercial law. He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Central District Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys Association, the Orange County Bar Association Tax Law Section, and the Orange County Lavender Bar Association.
Mr. Iskander served as President of the Inland Empire Bankruptcy Forum (IEBF) for 2022, where he was a director from 2020 to 2022. For 2021, Mr. Iskander was the IEBF’s Program Chair and developed innovative and widely attended legal education programming, including topics in corporate insolvency and the art of settling litigation. Mr. Iskander continues as the standing moderator of the IEBF’s Annual Survey of Consumer Bankruptcy Law, a tradition carried on by the Riverside bankruptcy bar for thirty years.
In addition to his regular engagements, Mr. Iskander has been a featured speaker on numerous programs throughout the Central District of California, including: “Unauthorized Bankruptcy Filings: Key Issues and Approaches,” April 2024, Orange County Bar Association Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section; “Drafter Beware: The Impact of Bankruptcy Upon Prepetition Contracts, Settlements & Stipulated Judgments,” February 2024, Orange County Bar Association Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section; “Ethics in the Use of AI in Your Bankruptcy Practice,” October 2023, Federal Bar Association Los Angeles Chapter; “Mind Your Ps and Qs (And Os) – the § 522 (Homestead) Exemptions,” October 2021, Central District Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney Association; and “Recent Bankruptcy Decisions Relating to California Community Property Law,” September 2020, Orange County Paralegal Association.
Before joining Goe Forsythe & Hodges, Mr. Iskander worked for more than five years at a local bankruptcy legal services boutique firm. While in law school, Mr. Iskander was one of former Rep. Katie Porter’s founding legal assistants at the California Monitor Program, helping to enforce the National Mortgage Settlement of 2012. Mr. Iskander was also a valued member of the UC Irvine Law Review, serving as a research editor, lead article editor, and article editor. Also, while in law school, Mr. Iskander externed one year for the Honorable Catherine E. Bauer (Ret.) (U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California). After graduating and passing the California Bar Exam in 2014, Mr. Iskander clerked for the Honorable Robert A. Gordon (Ret.) (U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Maryland).
